Since Khalid Sheik Mohammed is talking now, we have discovered a shocking fact:
Mohammed said he communicated with al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar while they were in the United States by using Internet chat software, the reports say.
Oh, great. Now they’re going to try to ban Yahoo Messenger as a tool of terrorism. I can see it now:
You unpatriotic slimewad, you! How dare you! You suck! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Why not? They’ve already had Echelon scanning MSN Messenger for the use of words like “terrorist”, “bomb”, “al-qaeda”, etc. Users of those words got a warning popup. As if terrorists are really going to use those exact terms in chat to discuss their plans.
Echelon being used on MSN? Seems unlikely, as the public literature about Echelon indicates it is used only as a surveillance tool on satcomm transmissions. But, hey, let all the conspiracy theories loose!
