Went to see Sin City last night. Definitely not the feel-good movie of the year, there. Wow.
Best-looking stylized adaptation of a comic book I’ve ever seen. More violence than three Robocop movies, and boy did we laugh at some inappropriate scenes. Really, the whole theater was laughing at people getting dragged down highways and other shit that just shouldn’t be funny.
Great movie, as long as you don’t mind lots of violence. And boobies. Mmm….boobies….
I’ve got a song stuck in my head, with the lyrics, “it’s freakin’ me out, freakin’ me out” and something about a system in my head or something similar. It’s a fairly recent song – anyone help me out? Google is not being my friend on this.
Parties like this are the ones I say nobody ever has invited me to. Thanks, Marina for the most surreal video I’ve seen since Erotic Trance’s Sexual Fantasy.
This is yet another reason that I continue to plan on building a non-commercial PVR(Personal Video Recorder) – nobody will control what it does but me.
Hey, you’re skipping commercials with a button designed to skip commercials? Well, we’ll put a stop to that! Tada, we have reduced your functions and keep charging you for the favor.
Rented Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle last night. That’s one hilarious movie. Who knew Neil Patrick Harris could be such a deviant? Extreme!
Went to go see Robots today, with Alex the monkey boy. It was pretty good, recommended for any kids. Might not be a big hit with serious folks, but it was entertaining fluff, and (most importantly) the Boy liked it.
From Boing Boing, Prehistoric sex gadgets from China – the photo shown on BB’s page looks like a doubleheader. Ancient Chinese had lesbian toys!
This is a good description of why I’m building a MythTV box this spring. Of course, it may be illegal to build one by the fall, so I’d better get on it. Maybe I’ll buy an HDTV card for future use, before they’re banned in the USA.
Go innovation!
Previous post on this topic is here.
If you haven’t seen the Oscar-winning short film, “Ryan”, go see it now. Fantastic. Beautiful. Heartbreaking.
According to the SciFi Channel, BSG returns this summer for its second season. Hey, if your season is only 13 episodes, it’s not too tough to make two seasons per year, eh?
Finished my homework a day earlier than necessary, played Pirates of the Spanish Main with monkey boy, went to the park until he asked to come home, watched Donnie Darko (brilliantly weird as hell), made barbecued pork loin for all and sundry (a hit), and now off to bed with nekkid woman.
Bonus – tomorrow is a day off.
I love the Green Day album, “American Idiot” – it’s been on my MP3-playing Clie for the past several months, I have it on the MP3 CD at work, etc. Today is the first time I’ve ever heard the title track on the radio (butchered heavily, of course). They played it on the local “best variety” station (like ClearChannel but lower production values), with no comment. I guess it took winning a Grammy for redneck radio to give ’em a listen. Think they realize that most of the slams made in that track are directed at folks like the majority of this town? Probably not.
Thinkgeek, one of my favorite stores ever, has some entertaining undies – HTTPanties. They have status codes like, “411 length required” for the randy geek boi.
If, like me, you’d never played the GTA series when they were new (first one in 1997), Grand Theft Auto is now available for free. Also available, Wild Metal and GTA2. That’s about a gig of shooting and driving badness.
What a time sink this will be…
Important news for fellow BSG geeks. Now, to figure out how they’ll resolve those cliffhangers the first season ends with… Let the wild speculation and fanfic begin!
Ya know, when I was in the Army, things like this never happened anywhere near me. Nobody ever invites me to these things!
So, with the one gigabyte Memory Stick in my Clie, I’ve finally gotten around to ripping some DVD video to it. So far, just a Looney Tunes short, “One Froggy Evening,” but next is one of Alex’s movies. Something about Dino Thunder Thunder White Thunder Ranger Thunder Power Thunder I think.
Meanwhile, I’ve decided that a PVR(Personal Video Recorder) would be a cool thing to have, but hearing the stories about the studios reaching into machines and turning off features, I’m a bit wary of the commercial Tivo and MCE products. Then, Tivo starts adding commercials when you’re trying to skip them…
So, I’m putting together plans for a MythTV based recorder once I graduate this spring. Figure nobody gives a 34 year-old graduation presents, so I’ll get ’em for myself. 🙂
