The stupid evaporative cooler has two clogged pipes on the “spider” assembly, from scale buildup. When did the scale build up? When I was in DC of course. Argh! I hate this state some times…

Back from DC, ready for the 10 days before I go back to the Coast again…
I’m tired. Can I go lay down now?

How is it possible for my hotel to have 45 channels, and not have the Comedy Channel? But, some Spanish-language channel has buxom women in tiny outfits (one is a mesh dress) on some silly game show. A guy is currently biting marshmallows off a woman’s dress. That’s my kind of game…might not stop with the marshmallows though. 😉
Home again tomorrow, thank goodness.

I’m a patriot, a veteran, a sensitive person.
But, “America Remembers – Part One” is on CNN next week, and I’m just not going to watch it. We’ve watched memorials every week the past year, and we’ve lit a billion candles in remembrance. Of course America remembers – the media won’t shut the fuck up.
Seriously, let’s remember the events, but let’s also be interested in other news events, ok? Gaza Strip anyone?

Flying sucks more with each passing year…
Not only does Reagan National have extra-special security measures that prohibit you from going to the lavatory the final 30 minutes of the flight, but they had an hour-long delay on my flight today. Where did we wait? On the tarmac, loaded into the plane like sardines…
Damn, I hate flying.

Although seemingly on the brink of financial ruin, I still find cool stuff on Salon every week. The Dylan Thomas CD collection is up to the sixth disk now, so I’ll have plenty to listen to while I’m in DC next week. Woohoo!

Hey, I wasn’t really near a computer most of Friday. 🙂
Total American mutt heritage. One of my aunts claims we’ve got a lot of freaky stuff hiding in the woodpile, including some Native American and black relatives back through the ages. I’m reasonably sure that no Bunker had slaves, though, since we settled in New England as poor people to begin with.

If you ask me to make you a userpic, and I send you one and ask, “how’s this?” you are expected to respond. Seriously, how do I know if you like it if you don’t say, “thanks, that’s good.”????

OK, please someone explain to me this anomaly:
According to the user agent logs for my site, I’m disappointed to see only 0.5% of the visitors are using Opera – my primary browser. I recently downloaded Mozilla 1.0, and I’m thinking I may change my primary browser soon…
Anyway, the anomaly is this – there was no version 5 of Netscape (also known as Mozilla due to a long history of rivalry with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champlaign’s Mosaic program). There was a version 4.x and now version 6.x, yet there has been only one hit in the month of July from “Mozilla/6.xx” and 2025 from “Mozilla/5.xx” browsers. So, does this mean that the user agent tag sent with every HTTP request from Netscape 6.x and Mozilla 1.x is fictitious? Does Netscape/AOL intend to keep identifying their browser by one lower number internally than externally? Isn’t this rather confusing to the software developers?
I need a more mentally stimulating day job…

OK, anyone familiar with downtown San Diego, you have to help me.
For some reason, I have got the name “Henry’s” stuck in my head. About 15 years ago, I went to a sandwich shop in downtown SD, I think named Henry’s. It had a smokehouse in the back, where they smoked their own hams. They had a menu with only 3 items on it – BBQ ham, BBQ beef, and combination. They sold sandwiches that kicked serious ass, and had about 3 tables in their narrow storefront. Sodas were in a cooler, and chips on a rack.
Does this place still exist? Do I have the name right? And, what’s the address? Hey, I could make it to SD again sometime soon. Depends on the Navy test schedule…

So John Entwistle had a horse-load of cocaine in his system, but it was not an overdose? At what point does it become an overdose, as opposed to a heart attack exacerbated by drug use?

OK, anyone in Germany needs to go help out the tourist industry of Munich. Go do your civic duty, and get naked!
My favorite quote:
“We’ve lost many of the nudists who made the English Garden a special place,” said park director Thomas Koester. “Especially good-looking young women and men who made it such an attraction aren’t here as much anymore. It’s becoming a real problem.”

After a month of it sitting in my cupboard, I finally used some of the “Killer Bee” honey mustard I bought in Bisbee.
Slathered it on a cheap steak, and marinated it with a little soy sauce for a couple hours. Yeah, that was a good idea. Turned out awesome. Big ol’ loaded baked potato with it, and a nice Gamay Beaujolais…
Next up, raspberry honey mustard on salmon. Mmmm….

The MPAA and RIAA want to become their own law enforcement agencies, and the U.S. Congress is aiding and abetting them. This story has a few more details on a recurring trend among the major entertainment industry giants – they are not just above the law, they are the law.
Basically, the MPAA and RIAA want to be allowed to break into your computer if they have probable cause to believe you have stolen some of their music or video files. Since when do we allow anyone besides a legally recognized law officer to decide on probably cause? Why would anyone think it’s a good idea to encourage the entertainment giants to crack into your computer? Kind of raises the level of insanity a bit too far, in my opinion.
Of course, we should all feel reassured by the MPAA’s senior VP for government relations, who says that law-abiding Internet users should not be concerned. Yeah, that’s what a lot of police states tell you – if you have nothing to hide, why be worried about invasion of privacy?

OK, knocked out some Daredevil userpics from that short-ass teaser trailer, and they’re on my main orphan page. The Eight Legged Freaks userpics are on my second orphan page.

Other trailers I grabbed that I’ll be playing with in the coming days: Daredevil, Austin Powers 3, and Eight Legged Freaks. Stay tuned, sports fans…
